Four Food Lion supermarkets will close in Macon and Warner Robins over the next month.
Delhaize America announced Wednesday the stores on Thomaston, Houston and Moody Roads and Watson Boulevard are included in 126 closings nationwide to better position the company in the United States, according to a company news release.
Ron Hodge, CEO of Delhaize America, said the company is solidfying operations, repositioning Food Lion and expanding Bottom Dollar Food stores in new markets.
"While these were difficult decisions given the impact on our associates, customers and communities, we believe these actions will enable us to better serve our customers in our markets with high density, while positioning the company for future growth," Hodge said.

About 4,900 people are losing their jobs, but the company plans severance packages and intends to work with government officials to assist in transitions.
Associates are also encouraged to apply for open positions within the company.
Food Lion LLC, of Salisbury, N.C., is a subsidiary of Brussels-based Delhaize Group.
Delhaize America owns more than 1,600 stores in 16 states that operate under the banners of Bottom Dollar Food, Food Lion, Harveys, Hannaford Supermarkets, Reid's and Sweetbay.
