Bibb County Commission Chairman Sam Hart and Macon Mayor Robert Reichert are planning a news conference Thursday to discuss the governments’ service delivery strategy agreement.
That agreement has been front and center in both governments’ agendas lately, as the two governments try to figure out how to move some 142 positions in five departments from the city to the county. Among the questions are how -- or whether -- the current city employees will get vested in the county’s pension fund.
Reichert and Hart were not immediately available for comment.
The service delivery strategy agreement inked last year said the county will take over animal control, engineering, traffic engineering, inspection & fees, and recreation on July 1.
The news conference is slated for 2 p.m. Thursday in the commissioners’ board room in the Bibb County Courthouse.
