A firefighter was injured Friday afternoon as Peach County and Byron fire crews battled a blaze at a Byron residence.
The firefighter was struck by an object from the home while fighting the fire, said Kemberly Rump, a Peach County E911 supervisor. The firefighter was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for care.
The E911 center received a call just after 1 p.m. about a house fire at 1141 Chapman Road.
Peach County and Byron fire crews on the scene were unable to give details of the fire.

“The house is pretty much burned down,” Rump said based on reports she heard at the call center from the scene. “I’ve been hearing bits and pieces. It was a full brick house.”
Rump said she believed no one was in the house at the time of the fire.
