Morris Communications -- parent company of Macon NBC affiliate WMGT -- and DirecTV have negotiated an agreement that will keep the network station on the satellite provider’s lineup.
Morris’ contract with DirecTV was to expire at the end of Saturday, and negotiations had been at an impasse, leading local DirecTV customers to wonder if WGMT might be dropped on New Year’s Day.
“I think it’s very good news for everybody,” said Derek Brown, the station’s general manager. “It’s certainly favorable results for DirecTV, Morris and the viewers.”
