Officials with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office have identified the two people killed in a three-car wreck Tuesday night on Interstate 75 near Exit 181.
Spokeswoman Allison Selman-Willis said the deceased were identified as Julious Battle, 43, and his wife, LaVerne, 40, both of Forsyth. Their daughter, who was in the back seat, survived the crash with some injuries.
According to the news release, two cars were trying to merge onto I-75 southbound at about 6:15 p.m. when one of the cars collided with a tractor-trailer, causing a wreck. The tractor-trailer blocked all southbound lanes of traffic for about two hours while emergency personnel cleared the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer didn’t sustain any injuries, and the driver of the third vehicle sustained minor injuries.
No charges are expected to be filed in the case, which is still under investigation.
