A doctor serving a residency at The Medical Center of Central Georgia was killed and another physician was injured in an accident Monday morning in north Macon.
Divay Chaudhry, 27, of Macon, was driving west in the 3900 block of Arkwright Road when he lost control of a 2007 Honda Civic about 8:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Chaudhry’s car skidded across the road and hit a large boulder in the landscaping of the Overlook at Arkwright Office Park.
The impact on the passenger side caused fatal injuries to 29-year-old Empress Janeen Hughes, of Macon, who was pronounced dead at the Medical Center, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. Chaudry was in stable condition at the hospital Monday afternoon.
As part of their investigation, deputies are trying to determine whether a wet road and sharp curve played a part in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
