AT&T says it expects to have service restored by midnight Tuesday to customers in the Dublin area who have been without land-line service for three days.
A car slammed into a utility pole in downtown Dublin on Saturday, damaging AT&T equipment on the pole and causing widespread outages in the area, said Ann Elsas, an AT&T communications manager. Technicians have worked “around the clock” to restore service, she said.
Elsas estimated that “several hundred” customers were affected.
“That’s the firmest number we can give,” she said.
Recent rains also hindered efforts to restore service, as the accident left some equipment exposed to the elements.
“When it gets wet, it takes longer to repair,” Elsas said.
