ATHENS -- Larry Munson, who became beloved by Georgia fans during decades of broadcasting, passed away on Sunday night, the school confirmed.
The legendary broadcaster died at the age of 89, at his Athens home from complications from pneumonia.
Munson called Georgia games from 1966 to 2008, becoming a fixture for the program and its fans. The gravelly-voiced native of Minnesota was known for his excited, unabashedly pro-Georgia calls.
“My God, a freshman!” Munson famously exclaimed after one of Herschel Walker’s runs.

“Lindsey Scott! Lindsey Scott! Lindsey Scott!” Munson called out during Georgia’s win over Florida in 1980.
