Bibb County jurors found a 20-year-old man guilty Thursday afternoon in the April 12 slaying of a Family Dollar assistant manager.
Antonio Browner, of Macon, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole following two days of testimony in Bibb County Superior Court, according to the district attorney’s office.
In addition to murder, Browner was found guilty of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the robbery and death of 38-year-old Gary Bennett Cole Jr.
He also was found guilty of criminal attempt to hijack a motor vehicle, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime stemming from a separate April 12 incident on Forsyth Road.
Browner must serve an additional life term, to be served consecutively, for his part in the Forsyth Road robbery, and 10 years for gun charges stemming from his actions at Family Dollar on Houston Avenue and the Forsyth Road incident.
