A man was fatally wounded as several shots were fired late Thursday night.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said Stephen Jackson, 28, was pronounced dead at around 9:15 p.m. at the corner of Ell and Chappell streets, which is near where Eisenhower Parkway meets Broadway.
Jackson was standing by a car and talking to a woman when he was shot, Jones said.
"Somebody came up behind him, and as we say on the street, 'Somebody lit him up,'" Jones said.
An autopsy will have to determine how many times Jackson was shot, he said.
Jackson's address is listed on Lincoln Street but he had been staying with his grandfather on Felton Place, Jones said.
