Authorities recovered a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting of two Westside High School students early Wednesday morning on Virginia Drive near Storey Drive.
Bibb County sheriff's deputy Clay Williams found an abandoned silver 1999 Honda Civic matching the lookout in a dead end on Owens Street near Roundfield Road off Hollingsworth Road near Log Cabin Drive.
Macon police issued a lookout for three men who opened fire from a 1999 silver Honda Civic that slowly drove past the teens who were waiting for the bus, according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.
The recovered vehicle has a spare tire on the passenger rear side of the car, as mentioned in the lookout, and a side back window was broken out.
Pebbles of glass littered the pavement where the car was found.
Macon police, Bibb campus police and rescue units were dispatched to the 2700 block of Virginia Drive at about 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.
One of the young men was critically wounded in the upper chest and forearm, while the other was shot in the leg, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, who said both were aged 16.
Bibb Board of Education spokesman Chris Floore said the high school is preparing to counsel students if necessary.
