7:05 p.m. End 6th: North Carolina made it interesting. Sawyer singles to score Roman Galaska before Phillip Sanderson’s three-run home run. Ahlers’ one-out double plates Hardison, and North Carolina trailed 14-11 before Alabama reliever Josh Lewis struck out the final two batters. Alabama hangs on for the victory.
6:40 p.m. Mid 6th: Alabama loaded the bases with no outs. Groundouts by Carlson and Shepard plated two runs before Micah Pepper’s hit drove in two more runs to give Alabama a commanding 14-6 lead.
6:15 p.m. End 5th: North Carolina using the long ball to claw its way back into the game. Sawyer’s solo home run to right field and Nathan Henson’s 2-run shot to center field cuts Alabama’s lead to 10-6.
6 p.m. Mid 5th: Shemar Jordan is the new North Carolina pitcher. Alabama’s Gabe Shepard was hit by a Jordan pitch to lead off the inning. He proceeded to advance to second base on a passed ball. Another passed ball that North Carolina catcher Caleb Avery couldn’t locate allowed Shepard to round third base and score. Alabama has stretched its advantage to 10-3.
5:48 End 4th: Chandler is economical on the mountain. The Alabama reliever needs just eight pitches to produce two groundouts and lineout. Alabama cruising 9-3.
5:40 p.m. Mid 4th: Ahlers strikes out the Alabama side in order.
5:33 p.m. End 3rd: With two base runners and one out, Chandler relieved Livingston on the mound for Alabama. Livingston threw 49 pitches, allowing three hits and a walk. He recorded five strikeouts. North Carolina proceeded to load the bases before Chandler struck out Ahlers and Mackenzie to escape the inning. Alabama still holds a 9-3 lead.
5:16 p.m. Mid 3rd: Alabama sends every hitter to the plate. Livingston’s single and home run, combined with singles by Chandler and Brooks Carlton and doubles by Grayson Williams and Jacob Poeschl have staked Alabama to a 9-3 lead. Pitcher Gray Mackenzie came on in relief of Clifton for North Carolina and worked two-thirds of an inning. Holton Ahlers became the third North Carolina pitcher, coming in to get the final out of the inning.
4:44 p.m. End 2nd: Clifton homers over the left-center field fence to give North Carolina a 3-1 lead. Alabama starting pitcher Andrew Livingston has struck out five batters through the first two innings.
4:35 p.m. Mid 2nd: Clifton added another strikeout and Alabama hitters went down in order.
4:28 p.m. End 1st: North Carolina shortstop Gregory Hardison tripled to score Coleman Sawyer, who led off with a walk. Hardison then scored on a passed ball and North Carolina takes a 2-1 lead.
4:15 p.m. Mid 1st: North Carolina pitcher Holton Clifton struck out the first two batters he faced, but two errors and a single by Josh Lewis scored Kyle Chandler to give Alabama an early 1-0 lead.
