BETHESDA, Md. – Russell Henley shot a 2-over-par 73 in the opening round of the U.S. Open Thursday morning.
The Macon native is currently five shots behind clubhouse leader Y.E. Yang.
Henley made one birdie on his round to go with three bogeys. Most of his approach shots landed above holes, leaving him tricky downhill attempts at birdie on many of the holes.
“I played defense all day,” he said.
Never miss a local story.
Henley also shot a 73 in his first round at the U.S. Open in Pebble Beach in 2010.
