The privately held corporation, which will produce plastic sheet and profile extrusions, will move into the former Step2 building on University Boulevard in Fort Valley, Charles Sims, executive director of the Development Authority of Peach County, announced at the authority’s meeting Thursday.
Sims said he did not know how many jobs the company would create.
A company representative could not be reached for comment.

“This is a plus-plus for Peach County, and we are happy to have the company come to the area,” said William Moorehead, chairman of the authority’s board of directors. The facility is expected to begin partial operations during the first quarter of 2011, with production trials beginning during January, according to a company news release.
Valley Industrial Products will continue installing equipment and increasing capacity into 2012, the release stated.
The production trials will determine the speed of hiring and addition of production capacity, according to the release.
Step2 closed its doors on the 102,500-square-foot facility in January. The closing of the toy manufacturer put 104 full-time employees out of work.
“During these tough economic times it’s really been a struggle for Charles and Dr. Moorehead to get this done,” said Peach County Commission Chairman Martin Moseley. “It’s very exciting and very promising.”
