A fifth person has been charged with murder in connection with a July shooting in Macon’s Village Green neighborhood.
Jerald Johnson, 19, of Parker Avenue, was arrested Tuesday by the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force. A tipster called Macon Regional CrimeStoppers on Monday with information that led to his arrest, said Robert Martin, executive director of CrimeStoppers.
Johnson also is charged with aggravated assault and criminal participation in gang activity, according to Bibb County jail records.
Rodrion Gary, 17, of Village Green Lane, was shot to death in front of 2696 Village Green Lane on July 27. Tavish Faulks, 18, and Shamarques Watkins, 16, were wounded in the shooting.
Watkins, of Brentwood Avenue; 18-year-old Shawn Kitchens of Courtland Avenue; 53-year-old Edward Collier of Village Green Lane; and 18-year-old Travis Taylor of Mikado Avenue also have been charged with murder in connection with the incident.
Hours after the shooting, the house at 2696 Village Green Lane was set ablaze. Eric Hill, 17, of Britt Drive, has been charged with arson and burglary in connection with the fire. Cameron Sellars, 18, of Village Green Lane, was charged with theft by receiving stolen property from the arson fire and marijuana cultivation.
