WARNER ROBINS — The estranged husband of a Houston County woman he is accused of stabbing several times Monday has been charged with attempted murder, a sheriff’s investigator said.
Alvin Daniels, 40, was also charged with aggravated battery, second degree criminal damage to property and three counts of first degree cruelty to children, said Houston County sheriff’s Lt. Jon Holland.
Laura Daniels, 32, was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where she was treated and released, the investigator said.
Daniels was awakened from sleep about 2 a.m. by her estranged husband busting in through the front door of the couple’s house at 106 Old Hickory Circle, Holland said. The couple separated last week, the investigator said.
Laura Daniels refused her estranged husband’s demands to leave the home alone with him and fled on foot with her three children, ages 4, 7 and 12, Holland said.
Alvin Daniels chased after her. While attempting to wake the neighbors, Laura Daniels was stabbed several times by Alvin Daniels, Holland said.
Laura Daniels was able to take refuge at a neighbor’s home while Alvin Daniels retreated to their house. Arriving deputies to the 911 call found a barricaded Alvin Daniels in the bathroom shouting that he had a gun.
The sheriff’s special response team, a tactical unit, was called in, Holland said.
The tactical team took Alvin Daniels into custody with the use of tear gas and a Taser, Holland said.
Daniels was arrested about 4:30 a.m.
He did not have a gun, Holland said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Houston County sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Middlebrooks at (478) 542-2085.
