WARNER ROBINS - Florida (Viera Suntree) defeated West Virginia (Ripley) 14-1 in five innings in a pool play game in the Little League Baseball Southeastern Region Tournament on Saturday.
Florida hit five home runs in the game.
In the bottom of the first for Florida, Jackson Prater hit a line-drive home run over the right-center field fence for a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, Anthony Castagnaro hit a towering home run down the right field line that landed at the top of the outfield berm for a 2-0 lead.
Florida added to its lead in the third. With runners on second and third, Vincent Benvenuto singled to drive in Jimmy Cawley for a 3-0 lead. Sebastian Samuels drove in Prater on a sacrifice fly for a 4-0 lead. Castagnaro then followed with a two-run homer to right-center for a 6-0 lead.

West Virginia got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth when Joshua Landis scored on a fielder's choice to cut the score to 6-1.
Florida added to its lead in the fifth on a two-run double by Bryson Wallace for an 8-1 lead. Michael Pineda hit a two-run home run to right-center field for a 10-1 lead. Hayden Kingston singled and Dylan Owens doubled to put runners on second and third with one out. Cawley struck out for the second out. Prater walked to load the bases. Benvenuto hit a grand slam for a 14-1 lead to end the game.
Gov. Sonny Perdue threw out the first pitch prior to the game, which is the first of the tournament. Perdue was in the area for his annual fish fry later in the day.
In Sunday's pool play games, Florida (1-0) plays Virginia at 2:30 p.m. and West Virginia (0-1) plays Tennessee at 5 p.m.
