Natalia’s on Riverside Drive is closing today.
Don’t worry, though. The Italian restaurant’s new location in Providence Village on Bass Road will open for business July 7.
Natalia del Basso-Orsini, owner of the restaurant, said she’s planning to have a noon ribbon-cutting ceremony at her new north Bibb County location and will open for dinner at 5 p.m.
The move will be bitter sweet, said del Basso-Orsini, even though she’s leaving a shopping center that has very little life for newer digs in a fast-growing portion of the county.
Never miss a local story.
“It’s sad and I’m excited,” she said. “Twenty six years in the same place, you get attached. The Riverside location is not what it used to be.”
Visitors and people driving by Natalia’s new location can see it somewhat resembles a home. There’s a reason for that, del Basso-Orsini said.
“It looks like a house because I’m going to spend a lot of time in there,” she said Friday while preparing the new restaurant.
“It’s the Italian villa I was going to build in Italy, but I built it here.”
