Nearly 40 years ago, on the July Fourth weekend, 1970, the Byron Pop Festival turned Middle Georgia on its collective ear. Tens of thousands of young people — estimates ranged from 200,000 to 500,000 — descended on the small town of Byron for a music festival at the Middle Georgia Raceway. We’re looking for midstate residents who attended the festival or have a story to share about that memorable event. If you do, please send a short e-mail to staff writer Phillip Ramati at email@example.com by tomorrow. Please include your name and a daytime phone number.
