When it rained, it poured late Wednesday and early today as Macon picked up 1.88 inches of rain in just two hours.
The National Weather Service reports 1.66 inches of rain fell in just one hour around midnight, but dispatchers in Macon, Bibb and Houston counties did not report any major issues with the rain. Robins Air Force Base reported 1.23 inches of rain in about an hour after 1 a.m.
None of the local storms rose to severe levels although there was plenty of lightning and thunder with the heavy rain. The preliminary damage report shows storms shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday dropped 0.75 inch hail near Madison in Morgan County and downed four trees around Shady Dale in Jasper County.
