Afternoon heating ignited intense thunderstorms Tuesday evening across Middle Georgia. Macon picked up three-quarters of an inch of rain with the storms that downed trees in northern and southeast parts of the midstate.
The National Weather Service reports 15 to 20 trees toppled with high winds around Monticello.
In Laurens County a fallen tree crushed a mobile home on Laurenwood Road and four trees fell on Steel Breeze Road and two more crashed down on power lines on Old Macon Road.
Trees were also down in Twiggs, Dodge, Wilcox and Putnam counties.
