The Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission approved Monday an application that will allow Kroger to expand its fuel center in north Bibb County.
The Kroger Co. had applied for a conditional-use permit to allow it to add two double-sided fuel tanks at its store at 5950 Zebulon Road to help relieve congestion at the busy center.
No one appeared at the meeting to object to the expansion, and the application was approved without discussion.
One fuel pump will be added on each end of the existing fuel center, and the canopy will be extended to cover them. Also the expansion includes adding an underground diesel fuel tank.

In another matter, the commission denied two variances in lot width to allow platting of two parcels at 895 Green Oak Terrace. The property is at the corner of Forest Hill Road.
Owner Curtis Heath said he wanted to divide the property and build a house on the lot that will be vacant.
Commissioner Sarah Gerwig-Moore said she was concerned about allowing “an especially slim lot,” especially when other corner lots along much of Forest Hill were larger lots.
“I just don’t see justifying granting two variances,” Gerwig-Moore said. “There are too many exceptions to our rules. ... I just don’t think it’s a great idea.”
The application was denied in a 4-1 vote, with Commissioner Arthur Hubbard voting to approve.
