The Georgia Department of Transportation will be closing some westbound lanes of Interstate 16 in Bibb County for overnight construction projects.
Beginning Tonight at 9 p.m. and running through Wednesday morning at 1 a.m., lanes between the I-75 split and Spring Street will be closed for a few hours each night as crews repair traffic counter sensors.
This morning crews are beginning a three-week project to work around-the-clock to replace the inside shoulders of I-16 between mile post 22 to 26. Only one lane will be open in the work zone through Bleckley, Laurens and Twiggs counties.
Speed limits will be reduced and there will be strict enforcement of the reduced speeds to keep workers safe.
