A downtown restaurant plans to close for good sometime this weekend.
Macon Pizza in the Alley will close “Friday or Saturday,” said owner Ron Fradeneck. The restaurant opened at 575 Mulberry Street Lane in August.
Fradeneck pointed to the recession and location as reasons for the closing. “It’s the economy. People don’t have money to spend. Another part of it is downtown. There’s just no life down here.”
Macon Pizza is in the former site of Spaghetti Alley, a location that previously saw two failed Caribbean restaurants.
