Former Macon Mayor Jack Ellis said Thursday he’s thinking about making another run for mayor.
“Some people have asked me to consider it,” he said, “and I’m considering it.”
In office from 1999 to 2007, Ellis is now working as a consultant after working for President Obama’s campaign.
City Councilwoman Elaine Lucas recently introduced Ellis as “our future mayor.” She said afterward: “I understand he’s seriously considering it, and there are some people who would support him. ... I believe he feels he has some unfinished business to do.”
Councilman Virgil Watkins said he didn’t know who may have asked Ellis to run again. “I could imagine he’s been getting quite a few folks, when he goes to church and stuff, saying, ‘We miss you.’ ”
Ellis declined to elaborate on his future plans.
