The Macon NAACP and CVS gave away free flu shots Wednesday at the Douglass Theatre. For Valerie Mitchell, it was a gift. “It was a nice Christmas present,” she said after getting her shot.
Mitchell showed up at the 6 p.m. clinic an hour early because only 100 doses were being given away and it was first come, first served.
There were no lines and after the first 15 minutes there were no people to give shots to.
CVS officials wondered if many people already had received flu shots.
Bill Trofemuk and his wife, Joan, rolled up their sleeves.
“This is my second year getting the shot,” Bill said. “I think this is good because a lot of people cannot afford this.”
