ATLANTA – Wilcox County junior quarterback Nick Marshall accounted for 304 yards of offense and led the Patriots to three second-half touchdowns to beat Savannah Christian, 30-21, in the GHSA Class A state championship game.
It’s the first state championship in school history for the Patriots, who previously lost in the 2007 state championship game to ECI.
Marshall rallied the Patriots from behind three different times in the game, finally putting the Patriots ahead for good on a 5-yard touchdown run and subsequent 2-point conversion pass to Jatarius Jackson with eight minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Marshall led the Patriots to one more scoring drive that ended in a 12-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Griffin for the final score.
