For 22 years, the contracting department at Robins Air Force Base has been filling stockings and dressing teddy bears for the Salvation Army.
The 400 plus employees in the department dress the bears like cowboys, knights in shining armor and Southern belles — almost anything, really.
Capt. Evelyn Thornhill of the Salvation Army said, “as the need grows, the interest grows.” She said that the group has doubled its giving since 2000.
Families sign up to receive Christmas gifts, and this year the charity will service 2,250 children in Peach, Houston and Pulaski counties according to Miranda Poole, a social worker at the Green Street location.
Never miss a local story.
Certificates were given to the employees for best dressed and judges choice.
