The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail is expected to be closed through the weekend as the river is once again out of its banks.
At 11 a.m. today the Ocmulgee River was at 21 feet which is three feet over flood stage of 18 feet.
The Macon area has received nearly two inches of rain this week with an inch and three-quarters falling Wednesday.
The National Weather Service expects the river to crest at 23.5 feet by early Friday and will likely fall below flood stage by midnight Sunday.
At 21 feet much of the riverwalk is under water.
