A Marshallville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 341 near Norwood Springs Road in Peach County on Wednesday.
Marilynda Leiba, 32, was traveling south on U.S. 341, which is also known as Ga. 7, when it appears she lost control of her Chevy Malibu because of rain and was hit by a northbound Honda Accord, said Georgia State Patrol trooper Darrell Thigpen.
Shemekia Fluellen, 25, of Perry, and a child, traveling in the Honda Accord, were transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, the trooper said. Their conditions were not available.
Janie Poulnott, hospital spokeswoman, was able to confirm at 6 p.m. that Fluellen was in the emergency room, but she was under assessment and a condition was not available. Poulnott could not confirm whether the child was there because the records can only be checked for with a name. The trooper did not yet have an identification for the child.
The crash closed the road for several hours, said Sheryl Hobbs, Peach County 911 director.
The crash remains under investigation.
