A Milledgeville 48th Brigade soldier killed in Afghanistan last week has returned to Middle Georgia.
The plane carrying the body of Staff Sgt. Alex French IV landed at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon after 11 a.m..
French's casket is being carried in a formal procession from the airport to Slater's Funeral Home in Milledgeville. The route came through downtown Macon shortly after 12:20 p.m.
The processional includes more than 50 vehicles, including several Bibb County sheriff's cars and more than three dozen motorcycles, some bearing the American flag, leading the hearse bearing Staff Sgt. French.

The funeral for French is planned for Saturday in Milledgeville.
