The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reports several roads are closed due to flooding from today's heavy rain.
Road crews are blocking the following roads in Monroe County: Joe Chambers Road, Estes Road at Williams Road, Treadwell Road, Sanders Road, Martin Road, East Redding Road, Watley Road and Zellner Road near U.S. 41.
The National Weather Service reports flooding on the Ocmulgee River near Macon affecting Bibb, Houston, Monroe, Jones and Twiggs counties. The Flint River is also under a flood warning for Crawford, Talbot, Taylor and Upson counties.
As of 4:18 P.M. the Ocmulgee was rising over flood stage of 18 feet and forecast to crest to nearly 21.4 feet by Monday evening and fall below flood stage late Wednesday morning. The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail is expected to flood again as water hits the riverwalk when the river is 21 feet. Agricultural flooding is also expected north and south of Macon.
The Flint River was at 19.07 feet at Carsonville which is more than a foot over flood stage of 18 feet.
