Anyone waiting for a decision on the rezoning of 71 acres on Rivoli Drive at Bass Road will have to wait a little longer.
While the application to rezone 4646 Rivoli Drive from an agricultural district to a planned development residential district has been deferred three times and discussed by the applicant, opposition and zoning officials numerous times, it was deferred again at Monday’s zoning meeting.
The purpose of the rezoning was to allow a mixed-use development, which includes townhouses, single-family homes and a retirement center.
Both the applicant and the opposition group, North Bibb Citizen’s Coalition, wanted it deferred again because they agreed they wanted all five commissioners present when a decision is reached. Commissioner Kamal Azar was unable to attend the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission meeting Monday due to illness.
The commission agreed to defer the meeting to a special called meeting at 1:30 p.m. April 20.
In another matter, the commission agreed to rezone 87.48 acres at 3679 and 3804 Fulton Mill Road from agricultural to wholesale and light industrial for the purpose of operating a public utility facility by Southern Rivers Energy.
The property would be developed in stages, said civil engineer Dan Wallace with Hulsey, McCormick & Wallace Inc.
During the first stage, a storage area for poles and transformers would be built, he said. Within three to five years, the second stage would include a storage shed and then an office building with a drive through window for bill-paying would be built within about five years for the final stage.
Other items on the agenda were:
