ATLANTA — The season continues for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who staved off expected early elimination Thursday to advance into the second round of the ACC Tournament.
Beating Clemson 86-81 in a tight, back-and-forth battle that marked just Georgia Tech’s third conference win this season, the Yellow Jackets extended their stay at the Georgia Dome on the hot hand of guard Lewis Clinch.
The game’s leading scorer, Clinch sank a career-high 32 points en route to the win. The performance bested a career-high 30 he set last week at home against Miami.
The Yellow Jackets’ second-leading scorer, Gani Lawal finished with 12, most of which were the result of hard-slammed, two-handed dunks. One of the dunks also came at the end of an alley-oop pass offered by Clinch.
