The Oak Haven Golf Club on Thomaston Road is under new management, and some changes are being made at the 45-year-old club.
The new management company — Gillis Enterprises Inc. — isn’t totally new to Oak Haven.
Gillis Enterprises bought the golf course in 2001 and sold it three years ago, said President/CEO Grady Gillis. The company signed a long-term lease to manage the property beginning Jan. 1.
“We are planning to reopen the club house as of April 1 (which closed almost a year ago), and we’ll serve breakfast and lunch seven days a week,” Gillis said.
Also, as a reflection of the economy, the price to play golf has been reduced “a good 20 percent,” with weekday play about $20 and about $26 on weekends, he said.
“We have a senior-driven membership,” said Gillis, 79.
“I’ve played golf here an average of three times a week since 1968. It’s a good walking course.”
