Macon Mayor Jack Ellis announced he was "walking away from the convention center hotel deal with Noble Investment Group."
The mayor reportedly discussed his intentions Tuesday night on "The Fox Files" on WGXA-TV and during the morning news on AM-940 WMAC radio.
City spokesman Ron Wildman was not immediately available for comment this morning.
The proposed convention center hotel was the subject of intense debate at Macon City Hall between rival factions supporting construction adjacent to the Wilson Convention Center and others backing a hotel project across the street.
