Macon police filed numerous charges against a rape suspect caught after fleeing an east Macon woman's home at about 2 p.m. this afternoon.
Brad Max Lamar, 20, is charged with rape, aggravated assault, kidnapping with bodily injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, burglary and theft by receiving, said Sgt. Melanie Hofmann, Macon police spokeswoman.
A neighbor called police after hearing a woman screaming.
Joe Bocchino, who had just moved to the Nottingham Drive neighborhood about a month ago, said he was working in his computer room when he heard his neighbor.
"I heard some blood-curdling screams, screaming like a female voice screaming and I ran out," said Bocchino, who watched as officers surrounded the house "like a SWAT team."
After officers surrounded the victim's house, the attacker fled down Parkview Drive near where police arrested him, Bocchino said.
Once the victim was safe, she came outside where Bocchino helped comfort her.
"She was beaten up pretty badly," Bocchino said. "It was sad. It was pretty scary. ... I'm new here. I'm here about a month now but from what I hear it doesn't really happen around here."
The woman, whose identity and address are not being released due to the nature of the crime, was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia by an ambulance after paramedics initially treated her at the scene.
