Indictment names men in Macon area copper, metal piping thefts

Three men have been named in a 20-count indictment alleging that they stole copper and metal piping from numerous businesses, a church and other properties in the Macon area in September.

Justin Alexander Williams, 17, of Ponce De Leon Avenue; Ellis Laron Smith, 21, of Robin Hood Road; and Troyce Avery Billingslea, 19, of Robin Hood Road, each are charged with three counts of theft by taking and two counts of criminal damage to property, according to the indictment returned Tuesday.

Williams also is charged with an additional count of criminal damage and theft. Smith and Billingslea are each charged with an additional seven counts of criminal damage and six counts of theft, according to the indictment.

The businesses and properties targeted, according to the indictment, were: Home Depot, 2525 Pio Nono Ave.; Golden Beauty, 2525 Pio Nono Ave.; Burlington Coat Factory, 2525 Pio Nono Ave.; Ocmulgee Crossing, 2720 Riverside Drive; Piggly Wiggly, 1605 Shurling Drive; Dollar General, 1400 Gray Highway; Poinciana Management, 3670 Eisenhower Parkway; Capital City Bank, 3535 Mercer University Drive; Mount Lebanon Church, 3805 Bloomfield Drive; Napier Square, 953 Hillcrest Ave.; property of Jang Yean Li, located at 4221 Mercer University Drive; and property of Fickling and Company, located at 3755 Bloomfield Road.

Smith is being held at the Bibb County jail on $11,200 bond. Billingslea is being held on $50,100 bond, according to jail records.

Williams was released on $1,200 bond in September.
