Forsyth to light downtown Christmas tree Monday

Forsyth Better Hometown plans to hold its community Christmas tree lighting ceremony Monday.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. at Courthouse Square on West Johnston Street, according to a news release. Planned entertainment includes Mary Persons High School Band, New Providence Baptist Church Choir, St. Luke AME Church Men’s Choir, Robert Ogletree, Encore Dance Studio, Okinawan Karate, CC Performers and a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

Some downtown shops and restaurants will be offering a 10-percent discount from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
