A man’s employer exchanged gunfire with two men as they attempted to rob a Cherokee Avenue man early Monday morning, according to Macon police.

The Cherokee Avenue man told officers that two men wearing ski masks came up on his porch as he was trying to enter his home at about 4:30 a.m., according to a police report.

The robbers displayed a gun and a Taser and demanded money. The man threw a bag of snacks at them and yelled loud enough for his boss, who lives above him, to hear, according to the police.

The man’s boss told officers he fired a shot at the robbers, and they ran around the corner, firing three shots back at the house, according to the report.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 751-7500 or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.
