If you ask law enforcement officers, they will tell you finding a marijuana grove is the easy part. It is a far more difficult task to catch the cultivator of the crop.

More than a month ago, Jasper County deputies discovered about 70 plants growing in a forest off Ga. 83 near the Monroe County line.

“Usually you go in and harvest it and burn it, but we thought we’d put some cameras in there and try to catch him,” Jasper County sheriff’s Lt. Jerry Robinson said.

After staking out the property for weeks, investigators released three images showing a heavyset white man in a red or orange cap tending to the marijuana plants. Now they are asking the public to help identify him.

If you recognize the man, who has tattoos on his right and left forearm, call the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office’s investigative division at (706) 468-4912 or messages can be left anonymously at their tip line at (706) 468-5276.
