A ceremony was held Monday to dedicate the Ell Street bridge over Interstate 75 in honor of former Macon police officer and City Councilman Charles Dudley.

Dudley, who died in October 2008, was a councilman from 1987 to 2006. More than 50 people attended Monday’s ceremony to dedicate the bridge in Macon’s fourth ward, which Dudley represented.

Dudley’s sister, Mary Dudley Jackson, and two brothers, Eddie Dudley and Herbert Dudley, posed with a bridge sign.
