Most holy Jesus, Lord of all, as the new year approaches, we are remembering the year that is passing. These words of a song I recall. “The things that I love and hold dear to my heart are just borrowed, they’re not mine at all. You only let me use them to brighten my life, so remind me and remind me, dear Lord.” The nature of man is to hold on while the world goes by so swiftly. We seldom take time to just be. When the beautiful moments are with us, help us to embrace them with love and to know how blessed we really are. Memories are engraved upon our hearts and there will be new times to remember in the coming year. Jesus, the future is in your hands that hold us so close. You have told us, “Do not fear, for I am with you always, even until the end of time.” We thank you for this new year and for loving us just as we are. In your mighty and holy name, I pray, Amen.
