Bond was set at $12,500 Wednesday for a former volunteer at a Macon animal rescue group charged with 17 counts of aggravated animal cruelty. Additionally, the woman cannot own animals while on bond.
Deborah Lynne Scott, 52, has been in the Bibb County jail since Sunday, when she was arrested on a second-degree burglary charge. The burglary charge carries an additional $5,700 bond.
On Tuesday, animals were found inside an abandoned home on Dewey Street where there was no running water or electricity.
Anne Brennaman, founder of Macon Purrs N Paws, has said one cat was dead. Fifteen other cats and a dog were found alive but requiring veterinary care.
Scott volunteered with the rescue group about two years.
She appeared at Wednesday’s Bibb County Magistrate Court hearing without a lawyer.
