Let me just go ahead and give you the disclaimer that I write my articles in advance of their publication date. So as of the time I’m writing this, the weather is beautiful and we have just a small chance of rain for Saturday, the day of my birthday party.
But after experiencing a snowstorm, an ice storm and an earthquake in the span of two weeks, the weather could still be crazy. So if it’s crazy again today and we have rain, we’ll postpone my party for a later date in the spring.
If it’s not raining, then Central Georgia CARES will have one jam-up party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home at 4680 Mumford Road in Macon. It is open to the public and is free. We would love it, though, if you brought a bag or two of pet food that we’ll share with the needy.
This year in addition to having adoptable pets, we’ll have fabulous arts and crafts vendors that will offer wonderful items for sale.
Never miss a local story.
We’ll also have representatives from different stores, especially animal businesses, there as well. We want you to come out to visit them.
To add to the excitement, we’ll have incredible music from DJ Ben Sandifer that will get the party started. We’ll even have a live remote broadcast from the fantastic Mr. Bob Johnson with QIXIE 103.9. I hope he’ll interview me again. I loved being on the radio with him before.
Our lineup of activities is awesome. We’ll have fun for kids all day. Then at noon we’ll have the Doxie Derby where little dachshunds will be racing. That’s just going to be hysterical watching a weenie dog race.
Then at 1 p.m. talented dancers from Hayiya Dance Theater in Macon will perform for us. And at 1:30 the impressive people from Ahn’s Tae Kwon Do will provide a demonstration which will make us all want to sign up for classes. Did you know I have my black belt from Ahn’s? If I weren’t afraid I’d get birthday cake on my uniform, I would wear it to my party.
At 2 we’ll have cupcakes and birthday festivities. I hope you’ll join me for refreshments.
I’ve always loved my group, Central Georgia CARES. But I love them even more since they helped the kids at the children’s home create crafts to display at the party. The kids are so proud of what they’ve made, and I know you will be, too. When you come to the party please look for the kids’ table to view their crafts.
I am so happy CARES partnered with the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home. It just makes sense that kids and pets go together.
AC Pupfest will be incredibly fun. And it’s fun for a great cause. Hope to see you there!
