The Medical Center received a $20,000 grant from the Amerigroup Foundation to provide health and medical services for children covered by Medicaid.
“It’s no secret that these individuals don’t have access to care or have limited access to care,” Dr. Tunde Sotunde, CEO of Amerigroup-Community Care of Georgia said during a press conference Tuesday morning.
Mike Hill, CEO of Evergreen Medical Group, a physician-hospital organization jointly owned by Columbus Regional Healthcare System and community physician partners, said the one-time gift would be used to provide equipment and personnel to enhance the pediatric practice at Columbus Regional.
The Amerigroup Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Amerigroup Corporation, a multi-state managed health care company based in Virginia Beach, Va.
