A Fort Valley man died Friday in a crash at Woolfolk Road and the Ga. 49 connector, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Sullivan Wayman, 55, was driving a Chevrolet S-10 pickup south on Woolfolk Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Earnest Huston, 43, of Macon, eastbound on the Ga. 49 connector, said GSP Cpl. Elbert Slappy.
Wayman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the pickup, Slappy said.
The pickup, which was spun back around on impact and went under the wheels of the tractor-trailer, was demolished, Slappy said.
Never miss a local story.
Wayman was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2 p.m. crash, Slappy said.
The crash closed down both east-bound lanes of the four-lane Ga. 49 connector for about one hour, Slappy said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, the trooper said.
