Macon Little Theatre’s production of “Chicago,” which I attended July 12, did not disappoint. For anyone who has not attended a show of director Sylvia Haynie and musical director Laura Voss, let me tell you, you are missing out on a treat. I will admit I am somewhat biased as I was in many of their shows when I was a student at Stratford Academy. However, if you attend a show, you will see I am not wrong. While at MLT, I saw Johnathan Hill (spouse of cast member Liz Hill), Becky and Cleve Bonner, and Lou Burkhalter Warren.
Bragg Jam officially kicked off July 18 with the Moonlight Miles 5K run. Those who attended (and ran) included Chris Horne, Meagan and Brad Evans, Jessica Walden, Heather Evans, David Wilson and Mechel McKinnley. More than 400 people attended, with 326 actually registered to race. Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Cox Capitol Theatre and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. According to Chris, it looks like about $4,000 was raised. Next year, they are hoping to move the event to the spring, so be ready to lace up your shoes next time!
Tuesday, the Chili’s at the Shoppes at River Crossing is hosting a give back night from 5–10 p.m. to benefit Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. Ten percent of all receipts accompanied by a flier (which can be found online at www.macon habitat.org, or you can e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send it to you) will be donated to our local Habitat. This flier gives more information on the event. Hope to see you there!
