In four short years, Tedeschi Trucks Band has made quite a name for itself.
The 11-piece band, including horns and flute, will arrive Friday for a concert at the City Auditorium.
The band is led by the husband-wife duo of guitarist Derek Trucks and vocalist Susan Tedeschi and showcases a blend of blues, soul, jazz and rock.
Tedeschi Trucks Band started as a side project for Trucks, a former member of the Allman Brothers Band, and Tedeschi and kicked into high gear in 2011 with the band’s debut album, “Revelator,” which won a Grammy for Best Blues Album. The band backed that up with a live album with 2012’s “Everybody’s Talkin’ ” and “Made Up Mind” in 2013, according to a news release.
The band has been spending a lot of time on the road, with performances including a mainstage debut at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and at the pre-Grammy MusicCares Person of the Year benefit concert in Los Angeles. As their fan base grows, so does their list of tour dates, and they continue writing new material as well.
