The Cox Capitol Theatre is kicking off the BBQ, Blues and Brews Concert Series on Friday with Moreland and Arbuckle along with Lightnin’ Malcolm and Stud.
“Lightnin’ Malcolm has been to Macon a few times, and people love him. He’s passionate about Delta blues and is a solid guitar player. Moreland and Arbuckle have a little more of a Southern Rock edge,” said Roger Riddle, marketing manager for the Moonhanger Group, which manages the theater. “It’s going to be a good mixture of authentic blues and down home rock ’n’ roll.”
The series is co-hosted by radio station The Outlaw 100.9 and sponsored by Sweetwater Brewing, which will have a few special beers on tap, and Georgia Bob’s Barbecue. A barbecue buffet is included in the ticket price.
The series will continue in September with performances by E.G. Kight and Diane Durrett, and plans are being firmed up for shows in October and November as well.
“(The series) will run about six months, and we’ll see how the response goes. If people like it, we’ll give it another go,” Riddle said.
